How to Capture Ideas in the Shower

ideas in the shower
I prepared a well thought out post for today until an early morning tweet caught my attention. The tweet was so interesting I decided to put the other post aside to write an entirely different article. Last week I wrote an article titled Why We Get Our Best Ideas In the Shower, explaining the very real science behind this phenomenon we all experience from time to time. As usual, I tweeted the piece. This morning I received a reply from @ShowerThinker who forwarded a link to a product called Aqua Notes. Honestly, I could not stop laughing because this thing is so damn clever. Folks, this is what being an entrepreneur is all about. Whether or not you ever buy the product, at least give a hearty salute to the innovators. So, how does this nifty little innovation work? Keep reading.

Well, it's pretty simple. This paper allows you to write under water. You hang up the notepad in the shower and jot down ideas as they come to you. Why don't I let the creators explain.

How cool is that! They even offer word puzzles you can do while in shower. Now, I don't know about you but spending that much time in the shower is not in my future. Not unless I want to come out looking like a 6 foot raisin. Still an awesome idea nonetheless with countless potential uses.

inspirational quotes, mlkBut the larger point here is the innovation. They saw a need, had an idea and, most importantly, took action. How many others do you think thought of the same thing but dismissed it as silly? I call this auto-negation (for an explanation, refer to this post).

So, have you seen the product or used it? Share with us your experiences in the comments below. Most  of all, take Aqua Notes as an example of what's possible. The next time you get an idea, take the first step. You may have the workings of the next big thing.

Godspeed and I look forward to see you in The Players Lounge.
